Freshly starting in 2018, we started Operation Christmas Blessings to specifically be geared towards single parent households who could use some relief throughout the Christmas holiday season. Our family referrals come from community partners who have identified these families as needing assistance and are a blessing to the community around them. Partnering with the community, we are able to supply Christmas trees & decorations, gift cards to purchase a holiday meal, wrapping supplies, and presents for the whole family.
All over SWFL, there is a huge need in our schools. Teachers have recognized, that there are students who come to class in need of food, clothing, toiletries, and school supplies. We partner with administration and designate a small closet to fill so teachers have access to the pantry throughout the day. These pantries not only benefit the student to improve their abilities to learn, but takes stress off the teachers so they may focus solely on teaching their students instead of basic needs. They serve as a gateway for the community to partner and get involved by supporting teachers and students in successful education.
Fiscal sponsorship is the Grace Works Unlimited way of opening doors for others who have great ideas for community service programs or projects. It is a way for an organization that is not recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 to utilize all the benefits of having tax-exempt status, without having to go through the process themselves. Whether you are conducting a onetime project or testing an idea for feasibility prior to formalizing your own efforts, GWU can provide the organizational component you need, so you can focus your efforts on fund raising and putting your plan into action.
Common Ground is a collection of programs/projects that connect people and mobilize them toward community service. Programs that fall under this initiative share similar goals and value collaboration for the betterment of the collective whole. We aren’t trying to create our own kingdom, so to speak. Our focus is to provide support for those programs whose mission falls right in line with that of GWU.
Network for Need collects the needs of area residents and uses technology to connect them with the skills of those who have a passion to serve. From simple automotive maintenance to emergency respite care, we have a goal of providing resources to those who are in need of a little help. Just another way to “Encourage Communities in the Care of Their Own”.
The Age in Place program is a nursing home diversion effort providing in-home non-medical care to seniors who cannot afford to privately pay for the care themselves. Grace Works Unlimited works with seniors, their friends and families as well as senior support services to determine assistance needed and to provide a well-matched caregiver. Recognizing that in-home care requires a certain expertise, we partner with local caregiving organizations to provide that care. We believe in the grace of “aging in place” and work to make it possible for those with limited income. Your donations are the fuel that gives this program life and enables Grace Works Unlimited to provide for many.
The HearthWorks program was created as a means to ensure safe, accessible living environments for anyone who could use a helping hand. We provide labor and/or materials to build and install accessibility ramps, grab bars, or help with simple maintenance tasks. Volunteers are the heartbeat of this program, so if you have a knack for handy work, we need your help. Donations of materials and supplies as well as monetary gifts are welcomed as we work together to help build a safer more accessible home environment for those who cannot help themselves.
Changing the Face of Aging focuses on the senior population of our community. Through various service programs we ultimately aim to place community members in the lives of seniors with a goal of developing warm and enduring friendships engaged in finding greater enjoyment in life.
